Michigan football has been rolling on the recruiting trail recently. The Wolverines landed 10 commitments in May, but one commitment may be in jeopardy.

Not one of the players that committed this month, but another that committed to Kyle Whittingham, Maxwell Miles, one of Whittingham's first commitments, a three-star safety out of Las Vegas, is looking around with two official visits scheduled.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety is ranked No. 619 overall via the Rivals Industry rankings, but the Wolverines lost another one of Whittingham's early commitments, as another defensive back ended up decommitting to go to Ole Miss.

Miles could be next and he could be staying within the Big Ten.

Maxwell Miles has two official visits to other programs

You never want your commitments to visit other schools. Miles already has a visit to UNLV scheduled. That makes sense with him being from Las Vegas. The Rebels, coached by Dan Lanning, reached the Mountain West title game a year ago and have a solid program.

Michigan will be hard for the Rebels to compete with, as long as the Wolverines are still making Maxwell a top priority, which is kind of an open question at this point, especially with Miles taking his other visit to Minnesota.

The Gophers have a solid program, but Minnesota isn't usually engaged in recruiting battles with Michigan football. That tells me that the Wolverines have cooled on this commitment. Michigan does have an official visit scheduled for June 12, according to Rivals, or it did, because the UNLV official visit is scheduled for the same weekend.

Miles will visit Minnesota this weekend. If it goes well, that could leap to a flip, but it doesn't feel like Michigan is doing a whole lot to prevent it right now.

Since Miles committed, the Wolverines have landed three-star defensive back Charles Woodson Jr. Michigan also landed four-star Tavares Harrington, who could play safety, cornerback, or nickel.

It feels like other targets are becoming larger priorities, which could lead to a flip of a 2027 Michigan football commitment.
