Michigan adds an elite transfer from Utah in another roster-building win

Salesi Moa has committed to Michigan football after entering the transfer portal recently.

The transfer portal gives, and it takes. On Friday, it gave Michigan football one of the most dynamic athletes available, as well as another weapon for Bryce Underwood.

At least potentially, thanks to the commitment of four-star athlete Salesi Moa.

We don't know exactly what position Moa will play for Michigan football. When he signs with the program and is announced, we will have a better idea.

Yet, it doesn't really matter. Whether it's as a wide receiver or a defensive back, Moa, who has worked at both spots during practice of the Polynesian Bowl this week, is ranked as the 23rd-best player in the transfer portal, although he will be a freshman next season. He's also ranked as the best athlete.

That's not a bad addition for a program seeking more impact players on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound athlete who was ranked 45th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, certainly qualifies.

Salesi Moa gives Michigan football another weapon for Bryce Underwood

Moa, who announced his commitment during the Polynesian Bowl, feels like he could be a superstar at the either position. My preference is that he plays wide receiver.

It feels like Moa, along with Andrew Marsh, Jaime Ffrench, and JJ Buchanan would be lights out moving forward, and they all have at least three seasons of eligibility left, as does Underwood.

Moa ran the 100-meter dash in 11 seconds flat as a junior. He brings speed, elusiveness, and a run-after-the-catch ability. It's interesting to think about a wide receiver grouping of Marsh, Moa, Buchanan, and Ffrench.

Either way, chalk up another roster-building win for Kyle Whittingham.
