Monday wasn't a good day to be away from your computer as a Michigan football fan, because there was a flurry of activity.
For starters, two starting-level players, or at least two who have the potential to be starters next season have announced their return for the 2026, Jordan Young and Hogan Hansen.
Young entered the transfer portal, but withdrew from it on Monday. He also confirmed on social media that he will be back, which is huge after Michigan saw three safeties, Young included, enter the portal last week.
Now, Young could be in line to start after three pass breakups as a freshman. Hansen, a promising tight end, who battled injuries this season, also confirmed he will be back on social media.
After playing in 10 games as a freshman, Hansen played in just four this season. He's got 13 receptions for 152 yards over the past two seasons, and will another weapon for Bryce Underwood.
Michigan football add more transfer portal commitments
The Wolverines have also added two new players from the portal. Former Nebraska offensive lineman Houston Ka'aha'aina-Torres, a three-star offensive lineman who can play center/guard transferred to Michigan after one season with Nebraska. He was recruited out of high school by Utah's Jim Harding, so this development isn't that surprising. He will compete to be the backup center and will provide some solid depth at guard, too.
In search of more linebacker depth, the Wolverines added Max Alford, a former BYU linebacker who had 21 tackles and a sack playing under Jay Hill in 2024. He's got 63 career tackles (37 solo). Alford will provide some depth, but Michigan isn't done at linebacker.
Former Michigan State linebacker Aisea Moa has been projected to commit to Michigan, via EJ Holland of The Wolverine. He had 12 tackles and a tackle for loss last season. What makes it even more interesting is that his younger brother, Salesi Moa, has now entered the transfer portal. Holland has projected Michigan to land him, too. That's along with Steve Wilftong.
The former Utah signee is 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, and ranked No. 54 overall via Rivals in the 2026 class. He was the No. 2 athlete, who could play WR, CB, or safety.
If Michigan does land both of them, what a win what will be for Kyle Whittingham.
