Latest Juke Harris update has disaster written all over it for Michigan and Dusty May

Things might be trending away from Michigan.

Michigan basketball has been waiting for word on the commitment of Juke Harris for over two weeks now, but there is still no solid information.

Harris visited Michigan, but is also considering Tennessee. North Carolina was in the mix, too, but dropped out after adding some other players from the portal.

There hasn't been a ton of buzz about Harris and the Wolverines. He's still seen as a "viable" option, however, that might not be the case much longer.

Insider says Tennessee has the upperhand when it comes to Juke Harris

This recruitment has been hard to follow, but according to Tennessee insider Chris Low, the Vols have the lead over Dusty May's Michigan basketball team.

“You never say never, but all my intel says that this week that Juke Harris will pull the trigger and come to Tennessee,” said On3's Chris Low on the RTI Lowdown. “I know his mom is a big fan of the program and a big fan of Rick Barnes."

Low also talked about what could stand in the way.

“In this era, you never say something’s a lock, because someone can always [say], ‘What about if we pay you $5 or 6 million?’ I think Michigan has probably been in Juke Harris’ ear telling him, “Hey, Ament is coming back, so you might want to rethink that decision.’ Well, we know that (Ament returning to UT) is not happening now. So I do think, unless there’s a big snag or a curveball at the end, I think Juke Harris will be a Tennessee Vol. I think we’ll probably hear something this week.”

Missing out on Harris would be a blow. After averaging 21.4 points per game last season, 2.5 3-point field goals per game, and ranking seventh in the ACC in rebounds, the 6-foot-7 wing would slot in well at the three position.

There are other options for Michigan, yet they are mostly freshman or redshirt freshman, although the Wolverines are bringing in three top-50 recruits from the 2026 class. I don't want to call Harris the missing piece, but his scoring would have made the Wolverines even more formidable.

Now, if this report is true and Michigan can't turn things around, May will need to pivot and find another viable option in the portal, or count on the guys already in the fold.
