Just a year and a half ago, four-star wide receiver Quincy Porter committed to, signed with, and enrolled in "the" Ohio State University.

Then, after playing in just three games for the OSU Buckeyes, Porter is looking toward greener pastures, and that includes the Michigan Wolverines.

On Jan. 6, Porter announced he was entering the transfer portal, opening up his recruitment once again. The Wolverines immediately jumped at the opportunity, led by new head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Kyle Whittingham wants to steal from the Buckeyes

Michigan isn't only hunting down Buckeyes; Whittingham and his staff are looking to poach stars from all of the Wolverines' rivals, but wouldn't it be sweet to get a win over Ohio State to start the year?

No, Porter isn't quite of the same caliber as Carnell Tate, Jeremiah Smith, or any of the other premier OSU wideouts who have become household names in recent years.

However, Porter did earn 59 yards on just four receptions in 2025, averaging 14.8 yards per catch, with appearances against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Wisconsin Badgers, and UCLA Bruins.

While he was a four-star prospect coming out of high school two years ago, Porter is now regarded as a five-star transfer and would be the perfect addition to Michigan's receiving corps, especially as quarterback Bryce Underwood prepares for his sophomore season.

Porter isn't the only Ohio State receiver in the transfer portal this offseason, joining his former Buckeye teammate Mylan Graham, who should also undeniably be a high-priority target for Whittingham and his staff.

Whittingham has brought in just seven prospects from the portal so far, and the Wolverines have lost 25 players since the portal opened on Jan. 2, landing Michigan's transfer class at No. 68 in the national rankings and No. 18 in the Big Ten.
