The Michigan Wolverines will officially have their guy back with freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood announcing that he would return for another season, instead of heading to the transfer portal.
Now, the Wolverines’ head coach, Kyle Whittingham, who is just a couple of weeks into the job, needs to find targets for Underwood.
With the transfer portal opening at the beginning of the month, dozens of premier wide receivers announced they were leaving their current programs, opening them up to Whittingham’s recruiting and the possibility of him convincing them to play for the Wolverines.
There are three wideouts that Whittingham and his staff should go after more strongly than the rest so that Underwood has his guys downfield next season.
Redshirt sophomore KK Smith announced he was leaving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the transfer portal.
With 11 receptions, 161 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in his career, Smith has the experience that Michigan’s young offensive squad needs, especially under new leadership with Whittingham taking over the program.
If Whittingham can land Smith, he would be a great start to transforming and rebuilding the Wolverines’ wide receiver room.
TaRon Francis just wrapped up his true-freshman season for the LSU Tigers and decided Baton Rouge wasn’t the place for him.
Coming out of high school last year, Francis was a four-star prospect. Now, as a transfer portal prospect, he is a four-star recruit once again, despite not earning any receptions during his first season of college football.
At 6-foot-1 and 207 pounds, Francis isn’t the biggest guy out there, but his speed and agility more than make up for what he lacks in stature.
The Ohio State wide receiver room is one of the most talented groups of college football players in the nation, so even elite wideouts like Mylan Graham don’t have astronomical numbers.
Over two years, Graham played in just four games, but brought in six catches for 93 yards during his redshirt freshman season (2025).
Graham is a four-star prospect in the transfer portal and could perfectly round out a rebuilt wide receiver room for the Wolverines.
