The end of the 2025 season did not go to plan for Michigan, as a loss to Texas in the Citrus Bowl was posted. However, with the way the roster is constructed right now, there's no reason to believe that new head coach Kyle Whittingham can't help this team push for a CFP spot next season.

Citrus Bowl is another learning experience for Bryce Underwood

However, a lot of that is going to depend on what happens with 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. The standout QB recently said that he's going to sit down with his family once the campaign ended to think about his future.

Before he makes his final decision, Whittingham sure had some strong words for him to think about, clearly making a bit of a pitch while on with ESPN for the signal-caller to stay put in Ann Arbor. Will it play a role in Underwood continuing his Michigan career in 2026?

Kyle Whittingham is doing everything he can to keep Bryce Underwood at Michigan

"Terrific kid," Whittingham said of Underwood. "Just carries himself the right way. Carries himself like a quarterback would carry himself. Has that it factor. In addition, had a chance to meet with his parents - great parents and great family. He's the right man to lead this football team."

While there were some ups and downs for Underwood this campaign, don't forget that he was a true freshman. He played beyond his years and Whittingham strongly believes he's the right man for the job to help Michigan get back to where it needs to be.

It's clear he's a bit torn, but the belief is that he'll return to Michigan. However, things won't be official there until he makes a final decision/announcement. Wolverines supporters are optimistic that he won't be going anywhere and that's what his new head coach is hoping for too.
