This is a play that's going to be discussed for weeks, regardless of the final outcome. In the fourth quarter of the thrilling showdown between Michigan and Texas, Bryce Underwood was able to give Michigan a lead thanks to a brilliant touchdown run.
Kyle Whittingham reveals key tidbit about his Michigan staff
However, Texas fans continue to be convinced that he actually fumbled the ball before crossing the plane and that the TD should have actually been a fumble and a touchback. If you're a Michigan fan, though, you're probably arguing that the right call was made. Taking a look at the slow-motion clip below, was the final decision after review right?
I can’t confidently tell you Bryce Underwood fumbled that football through the corner of the end zone.

But you can’t confidently tell me that he didn’t .
I do find it funny though… all this technology & we can’t sync-up two clean looks to have a definitive answer. pic.twitter.com/N3Hzs5IJfP
Controversial Bryce Underwood TD has college football fans everywhere talking
This really is too close to call. Yes, it looks like the ball is moving and that he ends up coughing it up. However, was the ball across the line before the pigskin started to get loose from his grip? Sorry Texas fans, but we don't think things were conclusive enough to overturn the call.
Apparently the team in stripes agreed with that, as the call on the field stood and Michigan indeed was able to take a lead against Arch Manning and the Longhorns. While Texas and Manning were quickly able to respond and re-take the lead, Longhorns supporters everywhere remain convinced that Michigan was gifted a free score. Again, we're going to go ahead and respectfully disagree.
This was indeed too close to call. Unfortunately for Michigan, that TD was the last positive in the contest for the Wolverines, as the Longhorns were able to dominate play to close out the fourth quarter and record a 41-27 win. Arch Manning turned heads once again with his legs, while multiple Underwood interceptions proved to be costly too.
All in all, it was an up-and-down season for the Wolverines, with a loss in the Citrus Bowl being a disappointing close to things. Underwood will want to take a big step forward in 2026, as Kyle Whittingham will want to play a role in his development as well.
