Michigan football is starting to get on a roll on the recruiting trail.
The Wolverines just landed a commitment from a blue-chip recruit in the state of Michigan, Jakari Lipsey, who is ranked 105th overall in the 2027 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry rankings.
Michigan is now building on that momentum. The Wolverines have received multiple expert projections to land four-star EDGE Jayce Brewer.
New potential Michigan football commitment has impressive offer list
The Wolverines have six commitments in the 2027 class. Three of them are blue chips. Two of those have come on board since Whittingham took over as Michigan's head coach. U-M was able to flip QB Kamden Lopati before landing Lipsey, a top in-state player, last week at offensive tackle.
Brewer is a 6-foot-5, 225-pound EDGE out of Indianapolis. He's become a top priority for the coaching staff, making two different visits to Ann Arbor this spring. The No. 361 overall prospect in the 2027 class also has an official visit scheduled.
Adding to that momentum is the fact that Steve Wiltfong of Rivals made the Wolverines the odds-on favorite to land his pledge on Monday by putting in a projection for the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. Michigan has a 93.6 percent chance to come out on top in this recruitment.
Michigan has taken control of things, but Brewer was offered by Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Texas A&M, Indiana, Florida, LSU, Nebraska, Illinois, Tennessee, Miami, Iowa, North Carolina and Wisconsin, among other programs. He visited Ohio State back in November. Purdue has been another team involved, but if the recruiting experts are right, another blue-chip is coming for Kyle Whittingham.
