Another transfer portal quarterback has committed elsewhere, plus more Michigan football transfer portal news.

Former Nevada quarterback Brendon Lewis was a name that some Michigan football fans were getting behind in terms of a bridge quarterback, but that dream ended on Thursday.

The former Nevada and Colorado signal-caller transferred to Memphis. That leaves Michigan football with two reported options, although there are others.

One of them is DeQuan Finn, the former Toledo and Baylor quarterback who visited earlier this week. He only played in three games last season due to injury but has multiple seasons with 20 touchdown passes and was the MAC MVP in 2023.

Finn would be an interesting dual-threat option and he doesn't seem scared off by Bryce Underwood since he's the first transfer portal quarterback to visit campus. Mikey Keene from Fresno State is also expected to visit this weekend but that seems like the final option.

Keene is only 5-foot-11 and doesn't have a big arm. He's accurate and is familiar with Chip Lindsey, but probably isn't a guy you feel great about as your starting quarterback if you're Michigan. He's probably an upgrade over Davis Warren and is visiting Ole Miss too, but Finn is preferable.

Michigan football hosting No. 2 offensive tackle in the transfer portal

The Wolverines have added one offensive lineman via the transfer portal but they are looking to add another -- a couple actually. One of the candidates is Fa’alili Fa’amoe, a 6-foot-5, 314-pound tackle who is ranked 22nd overall and 2nd among offensive tackles.

Washington State just lost its head coach, so some talented players are hitting the portal. Fa’amoe is visiting this weekend according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports. Michigan football is also among the teams to watch for his teammate, defensive tackle David Gusta.

Gusta who is listed at 6-foot-3, 300-pounds, had 21 tackles and three tackles for loss last season with Washington State. He was ranked 8th among defensive players according to PFF in all of college football and according to 247 Sports, the Wolverines have been in contact.

Michigan football landed former Alabama 5-star Damon Payne earlier this week. He's a solid run-stuffer but Gusta would be a massive addition, probably the most important in the portal so far.

Getting him on campus for a visit would be huge and based on how aggressive Michigan football has been in the portal, it wouldn't be surprising if he at least made it to Ann Arbor for a visit.

Wide receiver Duce Robinson is another name to know along with offensive lineman Josh Thompson. Those might be the top five targets on the board right now and if the Wolverines added all of them, this team would be formidable, as long as it adds at least a cornerback or two.
