Kyle Whittingham and the Michigan Wolverines have tangible momentum on the recruiting trail, which could be worrying to Alabama, as the Crimson Tide tries to protect against a flip.
Michigan football has eyes on four-star Alabama tight end commitment Colt Lumpris. After recently having tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham take the trip to see Lumris in person, the Wolverines locked him in for an official visit on Victors Weekend in June, a weekend that U-M is building up as a big recruiting weekend.
Visit weekends don't always matter. That one does and Alabama is clearly feeling the heat after a couple of positive news items make it feel like Michigan has traction in an effort to flip the blue-chip commitment of the Tide in 2027, to the point that Alabama just performed an in-home visit.

Out of Connecticut, it's easy to see why Michigan is interested in Lumpris, who is 6-foot-6, 245 pounds. He's ranked No. 236 overall, according to the Rivals Industry rankings, and it feels like his best days are certainly ahead of him.
The Wolverines aren't the only team trying to flip the talented tight end, though. Penn State is also scheduled to receive an official visit on June 6th, followed by Texas A&M on June 13th. Lumpris will visit Alabama on May 29th. That will be an important visit as the Tide tries to get him to shut things down.
If he doesn't, and makes the visit to Ann Arbor for Victors Weekend (June 19th), which would be his final official visit, there is at least reason to believe he could end up in Michigan's 2027 class.
