Michigan football is on a roll on the recruiting trail. There was a setback with the attempted flip of a Georgia commitment; however, the Wolverines have still landed commitments on back-to-back days.
The buzz is fresh off the House settlement. We predicted, as did many others, that Michigan football recruiting would take off, now that the rules are in place about paying players going forward, and that prediction has been correct.

The next test comes this weekend as the Wolverines will host five-star running back Savion Hiter for an official visit. It's been on the schedule, however, Hiter, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back out of Mineral, Virginia, confirmed it. He's ranked 17th overall and No. 1 among running backs, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and the On3 Industry rankings.
Michigan and Tennessee were recently reported as being among the top two, but Hiter himself pushed back on that. The 5-star running back visited Ohio State and Georgia the past two weeks. They are the other teams listed as finalists.
Michigan has a huge opportunity with Savion Hiter
There haven't been any crystal ball projections at this point. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Ohio State a 27 percent chance to land his commitment, followed by Georgia (23), Tennessee (17) and Michigan (14).
The prediction is based mostly on visits and other calculations. However, Michigan can create some movement and hopefully, close out this recuritment.
It's going to take an impressive NIL package. Hiter is the top running back on the board, and probably the top recruit in Michigan's 2026 class.
The Wolverines also have a better shot with five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo. We'll see how things play out with Hiter. Yet, the Wolverines have been near the top for quite some time. They are a program that values running the ball, and it feels like this is a winnable recruitment.
