Not many people believed that Michigan football was going to flip five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from LSU until it happened.
That was a sea change for Michigan football recruiting. The 2026 class has gotten off to a slower start than some hoped or expected, but now that the House Settlement is finalized, the Wolverines are rolling.
With the commitment of McHale Blade on Monday, the Wolverines have landed three recruits ranked in the top 155 overall in the 2026 class (via On3) since April. Michigan's class is trending up, and there's a chance that a big fish is coming along, too.
Michigan football has a chance at major coup on recruiting trail
One of the recruits on campus for an official visit last weekend was five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, a 6-foot-6, 275-pound tackle from Mansfield, Texas.
The Longhorns have been considered the favorite. Ohio State is also a serious contender, and the Buckeyes made headway when Ojo was in Columbus.
However, according to Steve Wilftong of On3.com, the Wolverines have pulled even with the Longhorns and Ohio State in the battle for the No. 6 prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
"They're on the same playing field as Texas and Ohio State, moving forward," Wiltfong said.

Ojo was supposed to take an official visit to Oklahoma on June 20th. However, the visit was canceled on Monday following his visit to Michigan. That doesn't mean that the Wolverines are the leader, but it does indicate that the Wolverines, Buckeyes, and Longhorns have emerged as the top three.
Wiltfong reiterated that. Ojo will visit Texas this weekend. The Horns are still the favorite, but landing Ojo, which would be a major coup for the Wolverines, feels much more likely than it did last week.
