It appears that Michigan football will win a head-to-head recruiting battle with Notre Dame after knocking it out of the park with four-star EDGE prospect McHale Blade.

Out of Chicago, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound pass rusher visited Michigan football this past weekend. Notre Dame was considered one of the contenders before that. USC is another. Those programs will get the next two official visits. At least they are scheduled to.

The recruitment might be over by then. Blade has been projected to Michigan football by a slew of recruiting experts led by Steve Wiltfong of On3.com. Others have followed and the Wolverines have a 90 percent chance to land Blade according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore also teased a commitment. He posted "yes sir' with eye emojis on social media -- something he does before every commitment, so at this point, it feels like it's only a matter of time.

Blade would be a great addition to the 2026 recruiting class. He's ranked No. 155 overall, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

5-star offensive tackle cancels Oklahoma visit after Michigan trip

Felix Ojo, one of the top recruits in the entire 2026 class, No. 6 overall, according to the On3 Industry rankings, canceled a visit to Oklahoma after he was in Ann Arbor this weekend.

Ojo, a 6-foot-5 offensive tackle out of Mansfield, Texas, has been trending to Texas. He said a decision will be coming soon and that he's seen all he needed to. Michigan made a positive impression this weekend, but Texas and Ohio State have also done that.

The Longhorns have an 89 percent chance of landing Ojo, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, Michigan has created some positive momentum and is expected to be more aggressive with NIL on the heels of the House settlement.

It might be too late to steal Ojo away from the Longhorns, but it's a recruitment to keep an eye on.
