Michigan just wrapped up its biggest recruiting weekend of the year, and even though the commitments haven't come rolling in yet, it was a hit. Michigan is already projected to land multiple recruits who make their way to Ann Arbor, and it's just a matter of time before their commitment dates.
There are many key recruits Michigan was after this weekend, as Kyle Whittingham welcomed eight uncommitted prospects. With only 17 committed players in the Class of 2027, Whittingham went into this weekend with the mindset of growing the class and has already landed one commitment, with more on the horizon.
Four-star safety Marcus Jones was one recruit Michigan was hoping to impress this weekend, and it seems Whittingham and his staff did just that. The Pennsylvania product loved the new staff in Ann Arbor, and could really picture himself in a Wolverines uniform in 2027.
"The new staff is looking to make an immediate impact and compete for championships," Jones said after his visit. "I could really see myself at Michigan”

Marcus Jones could be a key defender in the Class of 2027 at Michigan
Since Victors Weekend wrapped up, the only commitment the Wolverines have seen is from three-star tight end Christian Hanshaw. That doesn't mean more aren't on their way, as players are quickly setting commitment dates since the final official visit weekend of their recruiting cycle.
Michigan could see a couple of key commitments like five-star Joshua Dobson, who is set to announce his decision on July 1. Jones has yet to announce his commitment date, but since he wrapped up his time in Ann Arbor this past weekend, one is expected soon.
Jones could be a big part of this defensive -heavy 2027 recruiting class. If Jones chose the Wolverines, he would join three-star commit Charles Woodson Jr. as the only other safety in the class. While Whittingham has hit the defensive side of the ball hard for the 2027 class, the safety position has been light, so Jones could easily become a big piece of the secondary for Michigan.
The comments about the new staff from Jones make it clear that this was a solid hire, and now the biggest test awaits: what will happen during the season? Whittingham and his coaching staff have proven to do well on the recruiting trail, but he needs some results from this past weekend.
While the commitments haven't come in as quickly as they did in May, there is still time for Michigan to work its way up the recruiting rankings for this class with a few late commitments.
