Michigan has been very busy over the last few weeks, welcoming in smaller groups of official visitors from the Class of 2027. Nothing will compare, though, to Victor Weekend, when head coach Kyle Whittingham will welcome over 20 official visitors, hoping for some massive commitments from multiple players to bolster this 2027 recruiting class even more.
As of right now, Michigan has just 16 commits in the Class of 2027, with the hope of more coming in the next week. While the Class of 2028 is not meant to be loaded yet, some programs have already gotten started, and Michigan has yet to earn a commitment. That could change quickly, though, as this is the first week head coaches are allowed to reach out to recruits personally.
Michigan is hosting a multitude of 2027 recruits, and even hosted a 2029 prospect earlier this week, but is now currently hosting the No. 1 running back in the 2028 class, four-star prospect Kevin Hartsfield.

Michigan could load up on running back talent after Savion Hiter's commitment with Kevin Hartsfield visit
There's no doubt that Michigan's biggest recruit from the Class of 2026 was running back Savion Hiter, who has begun workouts in Ann Arbor this summer. Hiter has already made his presence known, with teammates already saying he hits harder than any other running back they have ever played against.
Michigan has always had great running backs, and that is continuing with Hiter. Now, the Wolverines are only building on top of his commitment. In the Class of 2027, Michigan is bringing in 4-star running back Tyson Robinson, who is the No. 21 running back in the class. Next, the Wolverines have set their sights on Hartsfield, who is rated as the No. 1 running back in the class according to 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings.
If Michigan could get an early commitment from Hartsfield, it would set the Wolverines up at the running back position for many years to come. With an offense that is known more for the run game than the pass game, Hartfield would fit perfectly with the Wolverines.
Running backs coach Tony Alford is leading the charge on this recruitment and is battling some big programs, one even being fierce rival Ohio State. Hartsfield has received a total of 47 offers, giving him a lot of choices, but a visit to Ann Arbor has to be a good sign for Michigan.
The Wovlerines are still looking for their first recruit in the Class of 2028, and Hartsfield would be a fantastic building block for what could be a strong class for Whittingham. More emphasis will almost definitely be put on 2028 recruits after Victor Weekend this upcoming weekend. Whittingham has to work to wrap up the Class of 2027, especially on the biggest recruiting weekend of the cycle.
