There were some interesting additions to the official visit list recently for Michigan football on what is known as Victors Weekend.

It's the final official visit weekend of the summer before the dead period. There were some major targets already expected on campus, such as four-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert, who Michigan football has been battling with Ohio State to land, as well as four-star safety Marcus Jones and four-star linebacker Fredderick Ford, who were added to the schedule not long ago.

There are a total of eight uncommitted recruits on campus. UCLA linebacker commitment Cain Brackley is among them, along with three-star EDGE Jag Ioane, three-star WR Damani Warren, three-star QB Thaddeus Thatcher, and three-star tight end Christian Hanshaw.

Michigan has a chance to land all of those guys, but the first three mentioned are the ones that the Wolveriners really need to sway this weekend. Here's why.

4-star CB Monsanna Torbert

Torbert is from enemy territory (Cincinnati, Ohio). It would be great if the Wolverines started winning more recruiting battles in the Buckeye State, starting with the four-star cornerback.

It feels like there is less confidence with Joshua Dobson. Michigan would surely take both. Torbert is ranked No. 102 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Dobson is ranked as a five-star prospect. Michigan could really use one of them, especially with offenses like Oregon, Ohio State, and Indiana,

The good news for Michigan is that Torbert made it to campus. Now, it will be up to Kyle Whittingham's staff to make a move in this recruitment this weekend.

Darius Johnson, Blake Jenkins, and Tavarres Harrington are all committed at cornerback/safety, but the Wolverines still want to add one of those top talents to the mix.

4-star safety Marcus Jones

This weekend is the first time that four-star safety Marcus Jones has been in Ann Arbor. Tennessee is the favorite according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Jones is a three-star safety, according to the Rivals' rankings for 2027, but is ranked No. 262 via the 247 Sports composite rankings. Charles Woodson Jr. is the only safety committed right now, although Harrington has been listed as a safety and corner. He could also be a nickel.

If Harrington is a nickel, that gives Michigan one safety and two corners. You can see why another safety and another cornerback would be priorities. Jay Hill and the defensive staff should be a selling point.

It's late in the game, but it feels like there is still time for the Wolverines to win out with Jones. There is more reason for optimism here than with Torbert.

4-star LB Fredderick Ford

The Wolverines have put their best foot forward in recent weeks with Ford, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound linebacker ranked No. 223 overall via the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State are battling for the Greenwood, Mississippi product, but after hosting him for an unofficial visit, Ford is back in Ann Arbor for Victors Weekend. With the big need at linebacker, expect Michigan football to push hard for a commitment.

Of the three recruits on this list, Ford is the one most likely to join Michigan's 2027 recruiting class, followed by Jones and Torbert, which is why this weekend is critical. The Wolverines need to make a move with all three.
