Michigan Wolverines news: Jadyn Davis goes off again, plus Urban Meyers makes national title pick
Michigan football QB commitment Jadyn Davis continues to shine, plus more in our Michigan Wolverines news roundup.
It’s Gameday Michigan football fans. The Michigan Wolverines will take on East Carolina on Saturday in the first game of the 2023 season.
We’ve got our keys, our predictions, as well as a look at the odds and how to watch. But there is more news than Michigan football’s season opener.
In fact, a future Michigan Wolverines player turned some heads on Friday night as four-star quarterback commitment Jadyn Davis continues to shine in the fall of 2023.
Davis threw eight touchdown passes during his first two games of the high school season for Providence Day out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Davis was playing on ESPN on Friday night and completed 19-of-26 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. He also completed throws to seven different receivers.
I still have a hard time seeing why the Michigan Wolverines QB commitment was downgraded in his recruiting ranking. He was a five-star prospect when he committed to Michigan football, and so far this season, he’s producing like one.
Regardless of the ranking, Michigan football is getting a good one in Jadyn Davis.
Urban Meyer makes an interesting national title prediction
Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer made an interesting prediction when it comes to his national championship pick for 2023.
Meyer, the college football analyst for Fox Sports, projected Georgia, LSU, Texas, and then the winner of the Michigan-Ohio State to make the playoff. What’s even more interesting is that Meyer predicted the winner of that game would be the 2023-24 national champion.
"“It’s America, I don’t have to pick the winner yet,” Meyer said. “The winner of The Game that’s going to take place in Ann Arbor I think will not only make the playoffs, but they’ll hoist the trophy.”"
If that prediction comes true, it would be the first time a Big Ten team won the national title since the Ohio State Buckeyes did it after the 2014 season — the first year of the College Football Playoff when Meyer’s team beat the Oregon Ducks.
Many believe this could be the year of the Michigan Wolverines to win a national championship and the good news is that the journey starts on Saturday.
