Alabama EDGE Drew Sanders

Michigan football lost both Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo to the NFL Draft. The duo combined for 25 sacks and seven forced fumbles. No one individual player Michigan football lands in the transfer portal is likely to come to matching their production.

With that said, landing a former five-star as a potential replacement wouldn’t half bad. Sanders is a new entry to the portal after Alabama lost in the CFP National Championship Game last year.

This season, he had 24 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and four quarterback hurries. He stepped into the starting lineup after an injury to Christopher Allen in the season opener. He had his best game in the season against Ole Miss where he harassed Matt Corral and had two quarterback hurries.

However, he suffered an injury himself in that game and lost playing time to Dallas Turner when he returned. With Will Anderson and Turner back next season, it is not a surprise to see him explore opportunities elsewhere.

Sanders is 6-foot-5 and 244 pounds and he also is capable of playing tight end. He is from Denton, Texas, and overlapped with former Alabama offensive coordinator and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian last year. However, Sanders will have many suitors and Michigan should be one of them.
