Jordan Phillips

While Michigan football is the clear crystal ball leader for Tatum, it has started trending with another 2022 recruit and that’s defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

Phillips is a three-star prospect out of Florida and is ranked No. 604 in the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as the No. 50 defensive tackle overall. He is ranked higher by 247 sports own rankings, which have him listed as the No. 31 DT in 2022, but either way, the Wolverines are all in and he is set to visit in June.

Here’s what Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider said about Phillips on a recent podcast:

"“I’m just baffled that his film hasn’t garnered offers from all the big-timers in the country. Right now his biggest offers are Michigan, Auburn and Miami. If you look at his film…you’re like, ‘wow! That kid is coming up to campus?!’ And after talking to his dad and talking to his coach, I think if he comes up here and likes it, I think he’s going to commit.”"

Phillips is listed at 6-foot-2, 290 pounds and he’s the kind of body Michigan is going to need, especially if he can add more weight. He might be an ideal nose or suited to play the role Chris Hinton will play this season, which is sort of like a three-technique.

The only other visit scheduled for Phillips right now is UCF and if that’s still the case when he comes to Michigan, there’s a good chance he commits, and depending on what Tatum does, he could be next in line to join the 2022 class.
