Michigan football currently has seven players committed in the 2022 recruiting class, but who could be next? Here are three candidates.

With official visits opening up in June, it’s going to be commitment season soon for Michigan football and other programs across the country.

The Wolverines have seven players committed right now in their 2022 class and while some experts have talked about teams taking smaller classes this year, there is still a lot of work to do.

Tyler Morris, the top-100 wideout was the Wolverines most recent commitment, but as we get closer to the dead period closing, it was worth asking, who will be next?

Dillon Tatum, DB

The four-star recruit out of West Bloomfield has long been a top target for the Wolverines. He was once recruited as a running back but now is being targeted as a defensive back, which is where he wants to play.

Ron Bellamy, Dillon Tatum’s former high school coach is on staff with Michigan football. That could give the Wolverines a leg up but Michigan State is very much in the mix. Tatum took a self-guided tour during the Spartans spring game and it’s long felt like a U-M, MSU battle.

All seven of the crystal ball projections at 247 sports have Tatum choosing the Wolverines. EJ Holland of Rivals also predicts Tatum to Michigan, as do 75 percent of his Futurecast picks at Rivals.

Two former Michigan State recruiting analysts had placed picks at Rivals for Tatum to the Spartans. That was last November and they now work for 247 and haven’t made a pick yet.

Tatum had talked about deciding in April but had problems with his commitment video. It’s supposed to be ready this month and he’s supposed to pull the trigger.

If he does, I expect it to be Michigan, which is why he could easily be the next commitment, as long as he doesn’t change his timeline again.
