Breaking down QBs

The quarterback competition is going to extend into the fall and didn’t even include incoming transfer Alan Bowman, so there’s a long way to go.

Still, as of right now, Cade McNamara is the favorite. He’s more seasoned, which he should be at this point since he’s a redshirt sophomore and McCarthy graduated from high school just a few months ago, which he did early.

There’s no need to rush McCarthy onto the field before he’s ready, but already, he’s flashed the talent that made him a five-star recruit.

McNamara played well in his limited time last season but that ended up being a little more than a game and a half. He started one game and didn’t finish due to injury.

He knows the offense though and he’s an accurate passer. McNamara isn’t a superstar, but he was highly thought of by Alabama, so don’t count him out. And don’t forget about Bowman, has more starting experience than McCarthy and McNamara combined.
