The Michigan football team played a spring game on Saturday, but very few people got to watch it. That was the theme of the entire spring from a fan/media perspective.

There weren’t any open practice sessions and despite holding a true scrimmage for the first time in years, in a time where fans are starved for football, the game wasn’t televised.

Still, we were able to learn what happened from various sources. The blue team led by Cade McNamara won 22-10 and McNamara was named the MVP.

According to Brandon Brown of Wolverine Digest, Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins stood out, as well as the running game as a whole. On defense, Daxton Hill turned heads and has been this spring according to what a source told Brown:

"“Dax is on some other s**t right now. He looks amazing.'” He’s excelling in the nickel role and redshirt freshman Andre Seldon has done a nice job backing him up there. The rest of the secondary looks about the same as the latter part of last year, which wasn’t nearly as bad as it looked at the beginning of the season.”"

It was the first spring with new defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald and the reviews about his defense have been good.

Guys are stepping up on the edge and one name to keep in mind is Mike Morris, a former four-star defensive end who hasn’t been talked about a ton yet in his time at U-M.

The Wolverines need lots of guys to flourish before next season and before we head into the fall, here’s a final look back at three takeaways from the spring.
