Michigan Football has legit shot at landing elite corner duo in 2022
Five-star Domani Jackson put Michigan football in his final top six list Thursday and here’s why U-M has a legit shot at getting him and Will Johnson.
The Michigan football program has a chance to land some elite recruits in the class of 2022 and one of those targets, five-star cornerback Domani Jackson, announced his top six on Thursday.
The Wolverines were among the six teams on the list, which wasn’t a big surprise seeing that Jackson recently took a self-guided visit to Ann Arbor less than two weeks ago.
Of course, Ohio State, which is a top contender, also made the list as did USC, Oklahoma, Clemson and Arizona State. But of those teams on the list, there seem to be three very real contenders and that’s Michigan football, Ohio State and USC.
If you look at Jackson’s 247 sports profile right now, you will see he has crystal ball projections to both the Trojans and Ohio State.
However, following his visit to Ann Arbor, the confidence level of some of those picks dropped including Steve Wiltfong, who dropped his confidence level with his Ohio State pick down to a one.
After this, Michigan football fans were thinking that Jackson could get some crystal ball picks and there were even rumblings that Jackson considered committing to the Wolverines the weekend that he was in Ann Arbor. He has called it his “dream school” and his dad is a big fan of the team.
Some even believe that Michigan football could be the favorite to land Jackson, which could also lead to getting another five-star corner recruit and that’s Will Johnson.
Jackson and Johnson a package deal to Michigan?
Both guys have stated that they want to play together and if you look at their final cut lists, there are only two places that can realistically happen: Michigan and Ohio State.
Johnson is the top player in the state of Michigan for the 2022 class and he’s ranked as the No. 3 overall corner, while Jackson is ranked as the No. 1 corner prospect, so landing those guys together could change the face of the program and it seems like a legit possibility.
Johnson has been trending with crystal ball picks to the Wolverines since he visited the same weekend as Domani and he now has six picks to U-M with a confidence level of seven.
Of course, Ohio State is still in the mix but the Buckeyes are the only other program that seems to have a legitimate chance at landing both players. And even though Ohio State would seem like the heavy favorite, Johnson and Jackson have ties to Michigan and it’s created an opportunity.
Now, the Wolverines, as a team need to close the season strong and hope that’s enough to sell Jackson and Johnson on being part of the future at Michigan.
But as of this moment, the Wolverines are a very real player in both recruitment and getting both recruits to commit is much more than just a pipe dream.
