Jadeon Gould

While Michigan added Dunlap to its 2021 class Saturday, the Wolverines also nabbed a commitment from four-star linebacker Tyler Martin in the class of 2022 on Friday.

Martin is the second verbal pledge in the class for Michigan football, which now has a pair of four-star commitments. Who could be next?

One name to keep an eye on is that of four-star cornerback Jaeden Gould.

Gould is out of Bergen Catholic in New Jersey, a school that has turned out multiple players on the current roster including Jordan Morant in the 2020 recruiting class.

Gould is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He also ranks 147th overall in the 247 composite rankings and 16th among cornerbacks. On top of that, he has multiple projections to land at Michigan.

Yet, that doesn’t necessarily mean Gould will be making a decision anytime soon.

After all, in 2021, following the commitments of J.J. McCarthy and Giovanni El-Hadi, the Wolverines went nearly a year without a commitment.

However, recruits are deciding earlier and earlier. Michigan does have crystal ball projections with a slew of 2022 guys, such as Kaleb Brown, Tyler Morris, Joshua Burnham and Dillon Tatum.

But the buzz seems to be strongest with Gould and here’s a tidbit from EJ Holland ($) last week:

"“Michigan is definitely a top school early on, and I have reason to believe the Wolverines are in a very strong position to land him early on. He’s been on a video chat with Harbaugh during the dead period and is in weekly contact with U-M cornerbacks coach Michael Zordich.”"

Gould is one of my favorite prospects this cycle and if the Wolverines could pair him with Domani Jackson or William Johnson, that would be one hell of a haul at corner.

There are other contenders with Gould to be sure, such as Rutgers and USC, but Michigan feels like it will win out and that’s why he’s my prediction as the next 2022 commit.
