Rayshaun Benny

Defensive tackle remains a need position for Michigan football in the 2021 class, but it looks like the Wolverines will eventually fill that need with four-star defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny.

From the start, the Wolverines have done a really good job with Benny and they expressed their desire for him at defensive tackle long ago. That’s where Benny has wanted to play and truthfully, regardless of position, the staff wants him at U-M.

At 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, Benny is ranked in the top 100 for Rivals in 2021 and is 189th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings. He also recently released a top eight that didn’t include previous contenders Iowa or Ohio State.

Michigan State and Penn State are close in proximity, but the others were Arkansas, Kentucky, Arizona State, LSU — schools Benny hasn’t visited and may not be able to before a decision must be made.

This dead period doesn’t seem to be ending soon. Benny knows Michigan and he’s been a clear priority. All of his crystal ball projections are with Michigan and Holland has his pick for U-M too, along with seven others at Rivals, so Benny feels solid.
