Michigan gets one or the other

At this point, when it comes to four-star offensive guards Rocco Spindler and Drew Kendall, it seems pretty clear that the Wolverines are only getting one of these guys, not both.

That’s something that Brice Marich of the Michigan Insider ($) reported a source told him this week. He also said that was his opinion and it makes a ton of sense.

If Kendall wanted to join Michigan’s class, regardless of who else the Wolverines were going to take, he could have done so months ago. He’s been trending with crystal balls and Futurecast picks since the end of April.

So why hasn’t be committed? I honestly don’t think the Boston College angle would matter much if Spindler wasn’t in the mix. Kendall said he wanted to decide before the end of July, before adding in some wiggle room.

I’ve said if he doesn’t commit by the end of July, he won’t be a Wolverine and I still believe that, because I think Rocco will wind up in Ann Arbor.

It’s extremely close and this post from four Rival’s experts Wednesday, including Holland, said things were too close to call between Michigan and Notre Dame for Spindler.

But here’s where I’m at. I think Kendall wants to join Michigan but is wary of being the fourth interior offensive lineman. It seems clear his recruitment is tied to Spindler’s, which in a way could be good.

At the end of the day, if Spindler chooses Michigan, Kendall goes elsewhere. If the Wolverines miss on Rocco, then I think Kendall will come into the fold. So one or the other.
