Michigan Football: Predicting Wolverines offensive two-deep for 2020
WR/TE
Starters: Nico Collins, Ronnie Bell, Giles Jackson; TE: Nick Eubanks
This is going to be a really interesting position battle, maybe the most interesting on offense outside of quarterback. Collins and Bell are obviously going to be starters, but the competition for the other targets is going to be fierce.
Jackson certainly showed an explosive ability this season, both as a returner, a runner and a receiver, so expect his role to grow in the slot. Losing People-Jones hurts, but it’s not a bad thing for Michigan to utilize quicker, slot-type guys.
They may just be a better fit in the system and thankfully, with the return of Collins, Michigan still had its deep ball target and 50/50 guy.
Backups: Mike Sainristil, A.J. Henning, Cornelius Johnson, TE: Erick All
Henning is a guy many expect to make an instant impact. He’s the Wolverines top offensive recruit in 2020 and the top player in the state of Illinois. He can play in the slot, he can play outside and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him make more of an impact as the season goes along, much like Jackson, Sainristil and Johnson in 2019.
Don’t forget about Erick All either. He impressed early in his Michigan career and has improved as a blocker. He has the athleticism of a receiver and he’s going to be an interesting threat as a move tight end in the years to come.
