Not another slow start

One of the biggest issues for Michigan football when it comes to winning big games has been starting slow.

In the two losses this season to Wisconsin and Penn State, Michigan fell behind 21-0 each time. The Wolverines also dug themselves a hole last season at Notre Dame and at Ohio State last November.

Against good teams, really against any team, that’s hard to come back from and getting off to a positive start Saturday night is essential. The Wolverines were able to do that against Iowa, building a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.

If Michigan can do something similar Saturday against Notre Dame, it will go a long way towards winning the game and after finishing strong in Happy Valley, I have a feeling the offense will come out hot.

Look for Zach Charbonnet to find some holes early, which can open some things up for Shea Patterson, Nico Collins and Donovan Peoples-Jones. Just like the Wisconsin win last year, a fast start and some early momentum will be key and at the Big House, UM will finally avoid another dreadful start.
