It’s going to be a big night for Zach Charbonnet

Outside of missing time due to an injury, Charbonnet has been everything that Michigan football expected out of the freshman and last week was his most impressive outing yet with two touchdowns and 81 yards on 15 carries against a stout Penn State defense.

Not only is Charbonnet big and physical at 6-foot-2, but he can also make guys miss. Iowa and Penn State are stout against the run and Charbonnet was able to find some room and against a Notre Dame defense that isn’t as good as it was last season, especially against the run, there are big plays to be had.

At some point, Patterson needs to look to run more, which will only make the zone-reads with Charbonnet more effective.

People want the offense centered around the wide receivers and that makes perfect sense. But there has to be a running game too and with the offensive line getting better each week, along with the true freshman tailback, the running game seems poised for a breakout performance.
