Michigan football is hosting Notre Dame Saturday in a game that’s a must-win for the program. Here are five predictions for the Wolverines.

It’s a little strange for Michigan football to be stepping out of Big Ten play in late October, but since Notre Dame is coming to town, it comes at a perfect time.

Michigan football is in desperate need of a “big win.” People will argue at times about what that is, but since the Irish are No. 8 in the country and still viewed by many as an outside playoff contender, this should qualify.

At 5-2, any hope of winning the Big Ten championship has mostly faded. The Wolverines are technically out of it, but their chances of winning the East Division are very slim.

So what do the Wolverines have left to play for? Well, a lot.

This team came into the year hoping to win a championship and while that likely won’t happen, there is still time to salvage the 2019 season. But doing so starts with a win over Notre Dame.

If the Wolverines can pull the upset Saturday, then beat Michigan State and god forbid, Ohio State at home, that would be a success. That would be a legacy that this group of Michigan football players could be proud of, even if the conference title doesn’t become a reality.

It’s time for Michigan to prove that it’s back and better than people think. The critics are louder than ever and the only way to silence them is to win.

What that said, here are five predictions for the Wolverines and Fighting Irish.
