Peoples-Jones will take his red-zone talents to another level

Like Collins, Peoples-Jones also took a big step forward in 2018 with Patterson as his quarterback. He was one of the top wide receivers coming out of high school in his class and finally, he started to play like it, finishing with over 600 yards, 47 receptions and eight touchdowns.

Yet, with another offseason to grow and develop, while also building his rapport with Patterson, Peoples-Jones should be in line for an even bigger season, especially with Gattis as his position coach and offensive coordinator.

While Collins was the top threat deep for the Wolverines, Peoples-Jones also made plenty of big plays and none were bigger than his 79-yard touchdown catch against Michigan State. That play put Michigan in control of the game and will go down as one of the great moments in the rivalry for the Wolverines.

But looking ahead to 2019, what is Peoples-Jones capable of? Last season, he showed a knack for making big plays in the red zone, hauling in some impressive touchdown catches against Penn State and even Florida. With his size, hands and body control, he’s going to be tough to defend.

Beyond that, if Black is healthy and if Gattis can develop a role for someone in the slot like Giles Jackson, Peoples-Jones should get more one-on-one coverage. In the red zone, he should also still be the top target and that’s why he should have a good shot at 10 touchdowns in 2019.
