Collins will hit 1,000 yards

When it comes down to it, Nico Collins is easily one of Michigan football’s best players. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver had a breakout season as a sophomore, hauling in 38 passes for 632 yards and six touchdowns.

And even in the Wolverines run-based offense, Collins was starting to produce big numbers and finished the season really strong with four catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns against Ohio State, as well as five catches for 80 yards against Florida in the Peach Bowl.

Collins didn’t have any 100-yard games in 2018, but that should change this season, especially with Gattis running the offense. It’s no secret that Gattis has overseen some productive wideouts during his coaching career and Collins is next in that line along with Donovan Peoples-Jones and Tarik Black.

However, as good as Peoples-Jones and Black are, I expect Collins to emerge as the No. 1 guy. He is the total package as a pass catcher and his numbers should reflect that this season. With Patterson back and Gattis calling plays, the sky is the limit, but at the very least, Collins should get 1,000 yards, which would make him the first Wolverine since Jeremy Gallon to do so.
