Michigan Football: 3 predictions for Wolverines wide receivers
Black will bounce back and Jackson will emerge in the slot
One of the biggest question marks heading into 2019 is what Tarik Black can bring to the position. He is obviously talented but can he stay healthy?
Foot injuries have cost Black each of the past two seasons, but if he can keep himself healthy, then a breakout season like Collins and Peoples-Jones had in 2018 is to be expected. Black probably still needs time to reach their level, but he should have at least 500 yards and should give the Wolverines another legit deep threat.
Another guy that should play a key role next season is freshman Giles Jackson. The 5-foot-9 all-purpose back in high school has a chance to be a dynamic and with Gattis running the offense, he should kill it in the slot, getting handoffs and whatever else is in store for him.
Michigan football hasn’t had that kind of player in a long time and having an underneath threat to go along with three big pass catchers on the outside would be the ideal complement.
Jackson will need to beat out some other talented guys for playing time, but he’s unique and it will be fun seeing his talents put to use. Overall though, with Collins, Peoples-Jones and Black, the wide receiver position might have more talent than any other on the Michigan football team.
