Michigan Football: 5 reasons the offense will dominate in 2019
Four of the five starters return up front
Last year at this time, the offensive line was a huge question mark for Michigan football. But then, Harbaugh hired Ed Warriner, who modernized the Wolverines run game, going to more zone concepts and now, the same group feels like a strength.
That’s what coaching can do.
With another year to work with the fellas up front and with four of the five starters from last year returning, the offensive line under Warriner should be even better. Jon Runyan Jr. Cesar Ruiz, Ben Bredeson and Michael Onwenu are locked in as starters, while Andrew Stueber is currently projected to start at right tackle after doing so in the last few games.
Last season, the offensive line showed drastic improvement in both running the ball and protecting the quarterback. But in the final two games, they also ran it problems giving up sacks and struggling to open holes in the running game.
Yet, this group looks solid and with another year of experience, it should be even better, which is just another reason to feel optimistic about the offense.
