Michigan Football: Top 5 moments from the Wolverines 2018 season
4. The comeback
For some reason, this game seems to be somewhat forgotten when people talk about this past season, but in the history of Michigan football, it’s tied for the third-largest comeback ever.
After a horrendous start, on the road against Northwestern, Michigan found itself trailing 17-0. The Wolverines struggled to score early and a missed field goal contributed to the deficit.
Yet, the tide started to turn at the end of the second quarter when Karan Higdon finally found the end zone to make it 17-7. In the third quarter, Michigan put together two long drives, but each time, the Wolverines settled for field goals, leaving them down 17-13.
With just over 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Michigan put together its third 11-play scoring drive of the second half, but this time, it ended with another Higdon touchdown that gave UM its largest comeback win since Notre Dame in 2011. The defense, which shut out the Wildcats in the second half, clinched the win with a Josh Uche sack.
And considering Northwestern ended up winning nine games, the Holiday Bowl and the Big Ten West, it was one of the Wolvineres best wins of the season.
