5. Beating the doors off Nebraska

Looking back, this was a great win for the Wolverines because of the way that they dominated Nebraska. The Huskers may have been 4-8 this season, but they weren’t a bad team with Adrian Martinez under center.

Nebraska did almost upset Ohio State in the Horseshoe but in the Big House, it was clear early they didn’t have a chance.

Karan Higdon ripped off a long run on the first drive which set up a Ben Mason touchdown. Then on the second drive, Higdon ran 44 yards for a score and suddenly it was 14-0. By the end of the first half, Mason had found the end zone three times and the Wolverines were up 39-0.

In the third quarter, Donovan Peoples-Jones put together one of the most electrifying plays of the season as he returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown. That made it 46-0 and after watching Michigan lose to Notre Dame then struggle a little with SMU, this was the first real sign of dominance in 2018 and it was a heck of a way to open the Big Ten schedule.

Michigan football was expected to win the game but on its way to the 46-point lead, it played arguably its best first half of the season.
