RB Zach Charbonnet

Before Daxton Hill flipped back to Michigan football Wednesday, it looked for some time that Charbonnet would be the Wolverines top recruit in the 2019 class.

While he isn’t ranked as highly as Hill is, Charbonnet is a borderline five-star kid and is the third-ranked running back in the country. At 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, Charbonnet offers elite size and he’s a big-time prospect that could be one of the best freshman backs in the country next season.

If the words of the Pac-12 assistant quoted above ring true, then Michigan seemingly got a steal with Charbonnet. But with Karan Higdon graduating and no other proven bell cow in the fold, the freshman will be given every chance to play right away.

If he can take advantage of that opportunity, he should see plenty of carries early on and honestly, it shouldn’t shock anyone if he is the opening day starter at running back.
