Michigan Football: 5 things we learned from domination of Michigan State
The kicking game could haunt Michigan down the road
There were a lot of positive things to take away from the win over Michigan State Saturday, but one of the negatives for Michigan football had to be Quinn Nordin.
Late in the first half, Michigan was unable to score in the red zone and it sent out Nordin for what should have been a routine 35-yard field goal. The weather wasn’t great at the time, but hey, this is the Big Ten, it’s not going to be nice out every week.
And in a game where points were obviously going to be at a premium, Nordin failed to put Michigan in front 10-0. Thankfully, that didn’t come back to bite the Wolverines, but it could have. It was also the fourth miss of the season for Nordin. What’s worrisome though, is that three of his four misses have come in the last two weeks.
Hopefully, it’s not the start of a trend, because as good as the offense has been, it still can’t afford to miss easy opportunities to score points in big games.
