Now that Michigan football has added a 14th blue-chip commitment in the 2026 class, it's fair to ask who could be next?
There are a few potential options, but no slam dunks. The top target on the board for Michigan football is five-star running back Savion Hiter.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound back out of Mineral, Virginia, is ranked 15th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Hiter is one of the few targets on the board who doesn't have a decision date set. Davon Benjamin is another candidate to be Michigan's next commitment. However, the four-star cornerback/safety, has been projected to Oregon.
The Wolverines are pushing for the elite recruit. The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back is ranked 36th overall in the 2026 class. He's out of Westlake Village, California. I'd give the Ducks the edge still. Michigan feels like it has a worse than 50 percent chance of getting Benjamin.
However, I feel like there's a better than 50 percent chance for Michigan to land Hiter. Tennessee is a real threat. Georgia and Ohio State have fallen off. With the Wolverines missing out on Calvin Russell, Hiter feels like even more of a priority.
Michigan will certainly have more NIL money to throw around, which is never a bad thing in a head-to-head recruitment with an SEC program. It just feels like U-M has the edge.
Four-star linebacker Anthony Davis, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound linebacker is announcing a commitment on August 2nd. He's ranked No. 337th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. His recruitment has been hard to read. Alabama got the last official visit. The Tide also missed on Nick Abrams recently, like Michigan did.
There aren't any crystal balls or expert projections. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Auburn but only slightly. Don't count out Michigan, which is pushing for another blue-chip linebacker.
None of these recruitments are a slam dunk. Michigan could go 0 for 3. It could also go 3 or 3. However, my money is on Hiter. I think a commitment will come in the next few weeks, and that the Wolverines will win out in the end.
