Most Michigan football fans are assuming that Bryce Underwood will be the Wolverines starting quarterback this fall. But, according to head coach Sherrone Moore, we won't know for sure until about a week before the season opener.
At least that's what Moore told JD Pickell of On3.com on the "Hard Count" on Thursday during a one-on-one interview.

"You can say something in spring, but it changes, so we're gonna take our time with the process of who that person is," Moore said.
Michigan football will name a starting quarterback one week before first game
Moore said that the Wolverines are "going to take their time" and there is nothing wrong with that. However, with Mikey Keene being hurt, it's hard to see anyone other than Bryce Underwood being the starting quarterback right now.
Jadyn Davis has played well this spring. He could turn some heads on Saturday. He was a highly touted passer coming out of high school, too. The one-time five-star prospect was still ranked in the top 150 overall when he signed with Michigan football, so Davis isn't a slouch.
There have been some impressive throws shown this spring by Michigan football on its social media accounts, but the ball just looks different when Underwood throws it. Former Michigan football star Taylor Lewan even said fans of other teams would be "terrified" of having Underwood face their teams after what he saw at practice this week.
Some opposing fans mocked Underwood about his weight -- something Bryce responded to on social media, but when the 2025 season rolls around, Underwoold can finally let his play do the talking.

Moore answered the question exactly how he should have. Underwood doesn't need to be given anything, but by the time the starting QB is announced, expect Bryce to have earned the job.
