National Signing Day doesn't feature many fireworks anymore. Those are reserved for Early National Signing Day. But Michigan football still fired some off anyway.

That's when five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood signed on the dotted line. On Wednesday, the traditional signing day in February, the Wolverines added to their 2025 recruiting class with another top-50 prospect, Ty Haywood.

The 6-foot-5 offensive tackle who is ranked 39th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, was committed to Alabama for a long time before finally signing with U-M. The Denton, Texas product is ranked sixth among offensive tackles, giving Michigan football two of the top six after signing five-star Andrew Babalola.

Florida State made a strong push for Haywood, but Sherrone Moore made the difference. NIL was a factor too. We have seen what a weapon Sean Magee has turned into, but Haywood even told On3.com that the texts and calls from Moore helped push Michigan football over the top.

The final cherry on an elite recruiting class

This wasn't even Sherrone Moore's first full recruiting class, since he wasn't hired until January 26th. Moore didn't land his first commitment until the spring, but when this class was all said and done, it's one of the best in recent memory for Michigan football at least.

The Wolverines signed Underwood, who fell to No. 2 among quarterbacks in the final rankings, but also signed a total of 11 players ranked in the top 200 and 14 ranked in the top 300. That haul includes a quarterback, three offensive tackles, two wide receivers, five defensive backs, a defensive lineman, a linebacker, and a running back.

Michigan football signed 24 players total and 17 of them were ranked as four-star recruits according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Wolverines also signed 17 blue-chip recruits in the 2024 class which gives U-M a 69-percent blue-chip percentage over the last two classes.

The talent gap is closing. Michigan still has work to do at wide receiver. It needs to land a five-star level talent at that position, but the offensive line looks incredible. The running back position is loaded and Michgan has done extremely well on the defensive and in the secondary.

With Andrew Sprague, Blake Frazier, and now two top-40 offensive tackles, the future is looking bright for Michigan football up front and everywhere else. This is an elite recruiting class -- one that could win championships, coupled with the 2024 class, and Haywood is the cherry on top.
