Two positives for Michigan football recruiting in 2025 class

There were a couple of positive notes regarding Michigan football recruiting this week during the bye week.

Things haven't been all sunshine and roses for Michigan football this season. The Wolverines are 4-2 in the defense of their national championship but the loss to Washington seemed like a turning point.

After watching the way Washington was handled by Iowa on Saturday by the score of 40-16, it really makes you wonder if the Wolverines are even worse than we thought.

That being said, maybe recruiting can be a bright spot for Michigan football. The Wolverines have 15 commitments right now in the 2025 class. Yet, Alabama and Oregon have been trying to flip one of those commitments -- four-star tight end Andrew Olesh.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound tight end out of Pennsylvania is ranked 95th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings in the 2025 class.

However, Alabama hosted Olesh for a visit recently and he was expected to visit Oregon, but that visit was canceled earlier this week according to EJ Holland which is a positive. Ivan Taylor is another 2025 commitment Michigan football fans should be worried about but Olesh is right there as one of my favorite 2025 pledges and holding his commitment is vital.

Andrew Olesh could be a Colston Loveland replacement

Colston Loveland is likely heading to the NFL draft after this season and Michigan will need someone who can match his talent and that's Olesh.

Another piece of good news for Michigan football is the fact that four-star safety Jordan Morgan. The 6-foot, 184-pounder is ranked No. 102 in the 2025 class out of Monroe, North Carolina. U-M was a top contender but they have re-emerged after things cooled for a bit and according to a report from On3.com, Morgan will take a visit on Oct. 26.

Morgan would be a huge addition to the 2025 class if the Wolverines were able to get him. Clemson and North Carolina State are the crystal ball favorites but Michigan is back in the mix and in recruiting, you can never say never.
