Washington loss to Iowa should make Michigan football fans feel even worse
You always have to be careful when you are trying to learn something from comparing scores but it was hard not to do a double take when I saw the score between Iowa and Washington, a team Michigan football lost to 27-17 last week.
Washington did have one turnover, which always can add to a lopsided score but that doesn't explain the 40-16 beat down that the Huskies were given by the Hawkeyes on Saturday.
Iowa ran for over 200 yards against Washington, which takes me back to the second half of the Michigan football loss to the Huskies when the Wolverines struggled to establish the run.
Michigan football might be really mid
Still, the fact that the Huskies were dominated by a mid-Big Ten team in Iowa makes you come to the conclusion that Michigan football is mid. Maybe even more mid than we thought.
The second-half schedule isn't easy, so the Wolverines will be exposed in the same way they were during the first six games if they aren't able to adjust and make some of the key changes that are needed. That's especially true with ranked teams Illinois, Oregon, and Ohio State still on the schedule.
What's crazy is that Iowa barely threw for over 100 yards and whipped Washington. Yes, the Huskies did have to travel and they were the underdog in the game, but it makes you wonder why the Wolverines weren't able to push around the Huskies when it really mattered last Saturday?
It's probably an overreaction because every game is different, but I won't lie, the way Iowa dominated Washington made me feel even worse about the prospects of Michigan football this season.
