Michigan Football: Have the Wolverines Found their Quarterback?

Michigan football suffered a devastating loss at Washington last week. The Wolverines are now ranked #24th in the nation, and with games against Illinois, Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State - three of which are on the road and all four of which are ranked above Michigan - it's very realistic and even likely that the Wolverines end the season unranked.

The Wolverines have had all sorts of issues, including a shockingly bad defense. But the biggest issue has definitely been the offense. Michigan football just has not been able to sustain offensive success. Last Saturday, however, there was a glimpse of promise. And that promise was when Jack Tuttle entered the game.

The Wolverines scored 17 points across the first three possessions with Tuttle, and it looked like the Wolverines had found their answer on offense. While some bad turnovers combined with poor defense made those efforts for nothing, there is some promise that Michigan football can be competitive with Tuttle at quarterback.

In fact, I believe that, barring injury, Jack Tuttle will be the starter for the rest of the season. And if the defense can make some improvements, this team could still be an 8-4/9-3 team. Yes, it's unfortunate that 8-4 is an optimistic outlook for the defending national champions, but that's how poor Michigan fooball has performed thus far.

Jack Tuttle is the best hope for Michigan football

This is still a team with 4+ potential first round picks. They're loaded with talent and have the ability to beat anyone if the coaches and players align. If they want any shot at beating the teams left on their schedule, Jack Tuttle is going to be the guy to lead them.

Tuttle showed a great ability to command the offense, and actually went through his progressions. He looked poised and made some very nice plays. The offense just performed better under him. It'll be interesting to see how the Wolverines fare against tougher opponents, but if there's anything to be hopeful about, it's that Michigan may have their quarterback for the rest of the year. Go blue.
