Michigan football has put together an elite recruiting class in 2026. However, it could still be better, and the Wolverines are trying to shore up a few positions before signing day in December.

One of those positions is cornerback. Michigan football just lost a four-star commitment from Brody Jennings last weekend. Michigan added a pledge from Dorian Barney, who is ranked No. 149 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The Wolverines also landed top-200 cornerback/safety Andre Clarke. He's ranked No. 177 overall, but Clarke and Barney could each play nickel or maybe even safety in Clarke's case.

Two potential flips to keep an eye on

With that in mind, there are a couple of Big 12 commitments that Michigan fans need to know in the secondary. Jordan Deck, a four-star safety who is 6-foot-3 and committed to Baylor, is one potential flip target, depending on how things shake out at cornerback.

Davon Benjamin, another elite cornerback, who could also be a safety, is down to Michigan and Oregon, among other contenders. However, if the Wolverines miss on Benjamin, they could pivot to JJ Dunnigan, a four-star cornerback who is from Kansas and is committted to the Jayhawks.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound cornerback is ranked No. 182 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Dunnigan hasn't been offered by Michigan football yet. But according to Aiden Sen of Rivals/On3, he's a name to keep on the radar.

If some other recruitments don't go Michigan's way, they could shift their attention to Dunnigan, and with Sherrone Moore's ties to the state of Kansas, where Andrew Babalola is from, Michigan could have a decent shot at flipping the four-star cornerback, if it decides to go that route.
