Another day and another blue-chip commitment for Michigan football at a premium position.
Last Monday, the Wolverines landed a blue-chip defensive lineman. On Friday, Michigan got a blue-chip left tackle before landing a five-star EDGE on Sunday.
On Monday, Andre Clarke, the four-star cornerback from Richmond, Virginia, announced his commitment to the Wolverines. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Clarke is more accurately described as a defensive back, because he can play both cornerback and safety. He might even be a nickel for the Wolverines, in the mold of Daxton Hill.
Clarke is ranked No. 177 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. His commitment moves Michigan football up to No. 8 overall in the team rankings for the 2026 class, which are calculated using the composite rankings.
It's possible that Michigan loses the commitment of Brody Jennings. The four-star from Florida was projected to Miami by a Hurricanes insider over the weekend. However, Sherrone Moore, teased two new commitments on Monday, one shortly before the commitment of Clarke.
There was also one eyeball emoji that wasn't accounted for. It's safe to assume one of those was for Clarke, who is an essential piece for this class. He's the only defensive back among the eight recruits ranked in the top 177 overall who have pledged to play for Michigan football.
But if Moore did reference Clarke in one of his social media posts, that means two more commitments are outstanding. Donovan Webb is announcing on July 2nd. He's a four-star safety and on July 4th, four-star wideout Travis Johnson will announce.
Both have been projected to Michigan football, so the good times should continue.
