To the victors go the spoils, we suppose. For the first time since COVID, the Ohio State Buckeyes got the best of the Michigan Wolverines on the football field. While they have not lost a game since last year's rendition of The Game, the amount of arrogance Ryan Day is conducting himself with of late is certainly hard to watch. He has talked about "kicking ass", "winning with humility", and now this mess.
Day flat-out accused Michigan of cheating because the headsets went out during Saturday's game.
"We lost communication there in the second half. Earlier that week, I thought there may be an inkling that that may happen, so we had a plan for it. I was in here on Friday, and I think some of the guys in the staff were looking at me sideways, like, 'Why would you think that would happen?' I said, "I don't know. We just gotta be ready, and be ready for anything.' It's funny how your mind works."
He then ended his remarks about Michigan with a cleverly placed wink to complement his giant smirk.
"I thought there may be an inkling that may happen" 😉

Ohio State enters the Big Ten Championship at 12-0 and as the No. 1 team in the nation. While the Buckeyes are favored over the Indiana Hoosiers on a neutral site, this game will be in Indiana's backyard of Indianapolis. Curt Cignetti's team has not lost a game either. The winner of this game will get the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, possibly with its quarterback winning the Heisman.
It is never easy to root for Ohio State, but outside of Columbus, it is hard to see any hopping aboard.
Ryan Day believes Michigan was trying to cheat in The Game this season
Even though Ohio State is one of eight College Football Playoff locks at this time, along with Georgia, Indiana, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, the Buckeyes seem to be operating from a level like they think they are better than everyone else. If they repeat as national champions, then maybe they are? If they come up short, they may be viewed like the fake tough guys of Oregon.
The irony in all this is Day is trying to have his cake and eat it, too. He wants to win gracefully, but is also highly concerned with rubbing it in the opposition's face. On the other side of the coin, Curt Cignetti has been quite complementary of Ohio State. He knows they have a deep and talented team. However, the Buckeyes have yet to be punched in the mouth. We all remember Oregon last season...
In the end, Ohio State is going to continue to get everyone's best punch. Yes, it would have been great for Michigan to deliver a crushing blow last week, but it was not in the cards. Rather than take the W in stride, Day has been quick to throw shade at Michigan every step of the way. This will breed cockiness into his football team. Cockiness does not win national championships. Execution does...
Day may think one thing, but he has another thing coming if he thinks anyone is rooting for him now.
