More recruiting misses for Michigan football in 2025
So far, the momentum that Michigan football was able to build in the month of June has stalled a little bit in July after a run of recruiting misses.
It started with Maxwell Roy and Hardy Watts. Roy is a four-star defensive lineman and at one point, Michigan football was trending as the favorite across the recruiting networks. However, Ohio State hosted Roy for an official visit and was able to turn things around in their direction.
The Buckeyes landed Roy. Another Big Ten team, Wisconsin, was able to rally and land the commitment of Watts, a four-star offensive lineman from Massachusetts. Marco Jones, a four-star EDGE also picked Texas A&M, but that wasn't much of a surprise.
More recruiting misses for Michigan football
On Friday, the flurry of commitments in college football continued and two more recruits for Michigan football came off the board. One was expected and one wasn't. SJ Alofaituli, a four-star offensive guard, chose Miami over Michigan football and Nebraska.
Alofaituli visited Michigan football along with teammate Douglas Utu, who is also ranked as a four-star offensive lineman. Utu ended up committing to Tennessee. However, the offensive line board is still in good shape, especially if Michigan can find a way to land five-star tackle Andrew Babalola.
Four-star linebacker Kamar Archie also came off the board on Friday. The linebacker from New Jersey, who just visited Michigan football on June 21st, committed with in-state Rutgers. Archie is 6-foot-1, 225 pounds and ranked No. 279 overall in the 2025 class.
Despite some recent misses, Michigan football is still trending as the favorite to land four-star tight end Andrew Olesh on Monday, as well as three-star wideout Phillip Wright on July 11th.
