It took some time, but Michigan football has started to build a quality 2025 recruiting class. The Wolverines added their 16th commitment on Saturday, landing three-star wide receiver Phillip Wright and could be adding to their haul again soon.

Wright is one of the lowest ranked commitments in the 2025 class for Michigan football but he's got the talent to easily out-play his ranking. LSU made a strong push for him late and Georgia was also in the mix.

New secondary coach Lamar Morgan has landed some big fish at safety so far in the 2025 class, flipping Ivan Taylor, a top-100 defensive back from Notre Dame, as well as Kainoa Winston, who is also a top-100 overall prospect.

Another good sign for Michigan football recruiting

Now, Morgan has his eyes set on cornerback. The Wolverines have had a few misses lately at the position but Jayden Sanders has emerged in recent weeks as a top target. Sanders is going to take an official visit to Michigan football for the annual recruiting BBQ at the end of July.

That was already a good sign for the Wolverines. Yet, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback out of Kilgore, Texas also told Steve Wiltfong of On3.com that he'll make a decision soon after he visits Michigan.

The No. 317 overall prospect in the 2025 class is also considering Baylor, TCU, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State. That doesn't sound like a super formidable list but Baylor just landed Taz Williams, a four-star wideout who was projected to Michigan football at one time.

Baylor has NIL going for it. The Wolverines have upgraded in that area or at least have something to pitch to recruits. This visit at the end of the month feels like a chance to seal the deal and with a decision looming in early August, it looks like another blue-chip commitment is on the way.

The On3 prediction machine gives Michigan football a 93 percent chance to land Sanders which would be the 14th blue chip for U-M in the 2025 class.
